The City of Sioux Falls says several street closures and construction updates are scheduled in Sioux Falls, including the opening of a section of South Veterans Parkway on Friday, Nov. 6.
The city says the outside northbound lane of South Sycamore Avenue will close beginning Nov. 6 between East 33rd Street and East Fernwood Drive for sidewalk repairs. The east sidewalk will also close, and pedestrians will be detoured one block east. Weather permitting, the city anticipates the work will take one day. The city urges drivers to use caution and reduce speed near the work, and says they may want to consider alternate routes.
North Tillie Avenue is closed between East Paddington Street and North Leucadia Trail beginning Thursday, Nov. 5, while Austreim Excavating works on utilities, according to the city. The city anticipates the work will be completed by the end of the day Friday, Nov. 6, and urges drivers to use caution, reduce speed and consider alternate routes.
The city says North Dubuque Avenue is currently closed between East Madison Street and East Revere Drive for underground utility installation. The work, performed by CMC Excavation and JS Contracting, was substantially delayed by weather after it was originally scheduled for completion in mid-October. With favorable conditions, the city anticipates completion by the end of Nov. 20. It also urges drivers to use caution, reduce speed and consider alternate routes near the construction area.
South Veterans Parkway from Cliff Avenue to Sycamore Avenue will open to eastbound and westbound traffic Nov. 6, the city says. The opening completes the segment that began construction in March 2025. The next segment, from Sycamore Avenue to north of 57th Street, is planned to begin in spring 2027, according to the city. More information on traffic impacts is available at southveteransparkway.com, the city says.
