South Dakota State University says its next Sioux Falls Metro Economic Briefing will focus on healthcare and banking on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 8 a.m. The university said registration was open and filling up when it published its announcement Oct. 20.
SDSU said the panel will feature Jim Dover, CEO of Avera Health, and Chris Ekstrum, president and CEO of First National Bank in Sioux Falls. The announcement did not specify a location for the November event.
The briefing series was developed by Joseph Santos, academic director of SDSU’s Ness School of Management and Economics, as a morning forum for industry leaders and aspiring leaders to discuss business conditions and the policies that shape them, according to the university. SDSU said the events include a panel discussion with two business or civic leaders followed by audience questions and answers, and are planned every other month.
The inaugural briefing took place in September at MarketBeat Theatre in Startup Sioux Falls, where a panel on construction and energy featured Journey Group CEO Brian Gramm and NorthWestern Energy Group CFO Crystal Lail, SDSU reported. The university said the event was free and filled the theatre, with some attendees standing in the back.
