The University of Sioux Falls women’s soccer team marked Senior Day with a 1-0 win over Northern State on Sunday, Oct. 4, at Bob Young Field in Sioux Falls, according to a University of Sioux Falls Athletics announcement. The Cougars’ win came on Maren Hayward’s first goal of the season, scored in the 54th minute.
Sioux Falls broke a scoreless tie at 53:28 after a corner kick. Martina Krattley assisted Hayward on the goal, the announcement said. Goalkeeper Delani Daubman and the Cougar defense preserved the lead, with Daubman stopping Northern State’s final two attempts in the closing minutes.
The Cougars held Northern State to four shots and three on goal over the match, according to the announcement. The shutout was Sioux Falls’ first against Northern State since 2017. Sioux Falls improved to 4-3-4 overall and 2-2-4 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play; Northern State fell to 6-2-2 overall and 5-1-2 in conference play.
The announcement listed Sioux Falls’ next game as Friday, Oct. 9, against Augustana at 7 p.m.
