Murray State opened its 2026-27 men’s basketball season against Tennessee State in Sioux Falls on Monday, Nov. 2, at 10:30 a.m. Central, according to Murray State University Athletics. The game was part of the Field of 68 Opening Day Marathon, the university said.

The Racers won 94-64, according to the results posted with the announcement. The university said fans could follow the game by livestream, live statistics or Froggy 103.7 FM, with the broadcast also available nationwide through the Varsity App.

Murray State said it was opening its season in South Dakota for a second consecutive year, after beating Omaha 85-77 there last November. The announcement said head coach Ryan Miller’s hometown of Mitchell is about 75 miles from Sioux Falls.

The university said the Racers were selected first in the Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll for the first time. Tennessee State entered the season after a 23-10 campaign in 2025-26, when it won the Ohio Valley Conference regular-season and tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, according to Murray State.

Murray State’s next home game was scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7, against Northwestern State, the announcement said. It reported a limited number of $5 general-admission tickets and a very limited number of reserved seats remained.
