What the measure does
Today, the state holds some money and other property that people have left unclaimed, such as bank deposits or refunds. This would put unclaimed property into a trust fund. Some of the fund’s earnings could go to the state’s general fund, and the Legislature would decide how much to distribute.
What the result means for Sioux Falls
A yes vote means the Constitution would create a trust fund for unclaimed property and allow some of its earnings to go to the state’s general fund.
What happens next
These results are unofficial. They become final when election officials certify them at the canvass, and totals can still change a little as remaining mailed and provisional ballots are counted.
